Memorial Day & New Toys
So. Apparently, tis the day to shop as some have noted. I honestly have never known Memorial Day to be such an awesome sales weekend. Wow, live under a rock buried with sand much? Yeah.
Anyways, the plan was to go to the mall and find me another pair of black slacks to wear at work. Maybe even pick up another black polo or short-sleeved oxford. All was well until we curiously wandered into the terribly tempting Williams-Sonoma. Upon entering the delicious atmosphere of wonderful scents and lovely shiny chrome & black appliances, we meandered through the aisles touching everything (reminding you to wash your kitchen things before using them)!!! I don’t think I’ve ever felt this way about a store…much like when I was a wee lass at Toys-R-Us. Williams-Sonoma is like…the high-end of the foodie world (that’s easily accessible to the average). Much like how there’s haute couture & ready-to-wear. Land of the highest prices for the most elaborate of pepper mills and “exotic spices”. Yeah. What can I say? The shiny cookery attracts me like a bug to death-light.
And then we left.
Convincing me that what I wanted had to be thought upon while browsing through the rest of the mall, とまと smartly whisked me out of the store. We ALMOST got a Wii Fit. So much for work clothes
When it really came down to it: do we want to get the expensive thing and get FAT FAT FAT?! Or do we want to actually get in shape and be somewhat physically productive?
FEAST YOUR EYEBALLS UPON MY BOUNTY (eww that sounded dirrrrrrrty). In my fabulously large bag: REAL fleur de sel, a candy/oil thermometer for the bettering of my deep-frying skills & WHAT? Chocolate ICE CREAM starter mix? WHUT?
What the hell am I going to do with ice cream mix? I don’t recall if I’ve ever mentioned my wanting an ICE CREAM MACHINE but I have been secretly pining (and researching) for one for a while now. This is what happens when you read a blog that loves making ice cream all the time and live with one who can devour quarts all the time.

“Pure Indulgence” …sounds fattening already
I got とまと a super late birthday gift: an ice cream machine. We buy ice cream almost every time we go to the grocery store. Now it’s time to make some. I’ve been wanting to make ice cream and whatnot for a while now, just so we have something lovely/simple to have for dessert. This just opens so many freezer doors for us: sorbets, gelatos, frozen drinks, etc. And what better timing than on the eve of SUMMER? It has been getting rather warm here…
Anyway, so I did some research and this machine is about the best on the market for its price. When I came upon the exact model that I was wishing/saving up for in a glorious display at the usual market price (not to mention having the money to get it on hand), HOW COULD I PASS IT UP???!!! Hopefully it’ll stay with us (and in use) for a long time. So look forward to some more photos of ice cream
On some other notes: working Friday & Saturday late nights are awesome. I brought home about $200 just from the weekend!! We’re promoting with a DJ and it’s restaurant-turn-nightclub after 9PM. $10 cover for draft beers and well drinks. TONSSSS of people. Apparently, I’m also a bouncer-ette as well, checking IDs and such. I suppose working at a beer distribution came in handy after all
They’re also wanting me to be a shotgirl and make more monies.
The とまと and I also picked up dinner from The Cheesecake Factory yesterday. Always wanting to try out different things on their menu
Especially when it’s so copious. We ducked into B&N since it started raining all sorts of domestic pets when we got there. Picked up a random manga called Solanin by Asano Inio. A thick one-volume work that was quite interesting in a kinda slow way. I was pining for a certain issue of The Food Network magazine for some lovely summerific recipes. Got eet. Speaking of this shopping center (Blue Back Square), we’ve managed to only hit 2/2075849357 amusements to be found there: The Cheesecake Factory, B&N and The Counter. We’ve been there quite a few times already. And Tanuki (my work) has a partner restaurant there, Murasaki (though technically in West Hartford Center – and have still yet to frequent).
Anyways, time to go to bed. Got lots of chores to finish up tomorrow…and some more frozen concoctions to stir up
おやすみなさい!
PS: Still working on editing the photos from the other weekkkkkk. OY, so many

William Sonoma is like my downfall. That and home goods which is like the TJ maxx equivalent of Pier 1/Cooking store.
Love the ice cream maker! I've actually treated myself to ice cream a few times because we have a bunch of ice cream shoppes around.

SRSLY. They have things that are ridiculous and yet I want them…like monograms for steaks/grilling…I'd LOVE to brand my own meats with my initials, whut? Yeah HAHAHAHAH!
HomeGoods is pretty bad for me too…but just home goods types of shops in general. WS just has a ton of coordinating items that catches my eyes XDXD
YES. Strange but after coming from the land of Coldstones & BaskinRobbins on every corner, ice cream isn't that popular in this arctic region…ah well. We'll just make our own when we wannnnt!!
